Families moving on

This has been a very up and down month – up because my niece Jenny and her family moved in to Baskerville Manor early in the month, down because they did so while preparing to leave Ireland forever.   For the most part it was great fun. Sometimes the enormity of the step they were about to take came out in little bouts of stressfulness, which was only to be expected. I find it hard to write about because although they are doing the right thing, fulfilling a plan that has been in development ever since Jenny was a teenager, it hurt like hell to see them go.

During the same period another family had quietly moved into Baskerville Manor and were taking their own steps towards a major transition. Thankfully, Jenny’s husband, George, had control of my camera most of the time, so he managed to catch some lovely moments as mum and dad raised their little brood, and eventually coaxed them out into the world – and here they are:

NB – you can find out how Jenny and family got along after their move in her Emigration Diary

Happy ending for Archer

2012-06-21 08.16.34

At first glance, you might think this is a picture of Princess Chloe the First. In fact, this is Archer, who turned up at my door yesterday.

He had followed a young girl who is renting a room nearby and she did not know what to do with him.  One of the neighbours thought he was Chloe, which led her to my door.

Rather than submit him to the pound, I decided to keep him overnight and see if I could locate the owner. Thanks to Facebook, I got a phone call this morning from his very worried owners.

Apparently there was some building work going on in Archer’s house, the workmen left the door open, Archer got scared and started making his way to his granny’s home which is just around the corner from Baskerville Manor.

It turns out that Archer’s owner is the young brother of an old school friend of mine.  Small world, and thankfully, now it’s a safe one again for Archer.

Izzy and Chloe

I have no clue what is going on here.  Princess Chloe the First sees something through the window and I swear she is telling The Diva all about it. Whatever it is, they both seem to think it’s hilarious.
